Despite outrating our opponents by 551 points, the 'A' team were held to a 2-2 draw in our Division 1 match at Crewe 'B' on Wednesday evening.
We got off to a bad start when Petru blundered on board 3 whilst a piece up, and allowed himself to get mated. Chris pulled us level with another great win on board 4 and Gerald then put us 2-1 up with a win on board 2. For the second week running Alex found himself in time trouble on board 1 and quickly found himself in a lost position. It was a disappointing end to the match as we had high hopes of winning, considering the strength of the team we were able to field.
On the bright side, Crewe 'A' were playing Holmes Chapel on the same night and were also held to a 2-2 draw, so our league position has not changed and we are still in contention for the Division 1 title.
