Fenton 'A' came away with a hard earned point from a 2-2 draw at Cheddleton 'B' last night. Both sides are languishing at the bottom of Division 1 without a win so far this season. The two teams are level on match points but Fenton have a marginally better game point difference.
Petru failed to appear for his lift to the match so we had to re-jig the board order, which obviously made a big difference to the strength of the team. Fortunately, Steve was on hand as non-playing Captain to step in so that we did not have to default a board.
Dylan got us off to a good start with a win on board 4, but this was quickly followed by a loss for Chris on board 1, who lost a piece and the game whilst under a lot of pressure. Steve took a draw on board 3 whilst down by the exchange of a Rook for a Bishop. Ray was the last to finish with a good draw on board 2. We couldn't help but feel how different it could have been with Petru in the team.
