The 'A' team got off to a great start on their return to Division 2, with a comprehensive 4-1 win against last season's Champions, Newcastle 'B'. On paper it looked a very even match, with both teams having an identical grade total. However, despite an early loss for Kasian on board 1, wins for Petru, Glyn, myself and Max, on boards 2,3,4 and 5 gave us a decisive victory. Click here for the match score card.
There was no such luck for the 'C' team, who were well beaten by Cheddleton 'F' in Division 4. A draw from Derek on board 3 was all that stood between us and a whitewash in a 3.5 - 0.5 defeat. Click here for the match score card.
The 'B' team start their season in Division 3 next week with a home match against Cheddleton 'E'.
