It was a hugely disappointing night for the 'B' team last night. Needing only a point to guarantee us at least a share of the Division 4 title, we slumped to our first defeat of the season by 3 - 1 at Cheddleton 'F', who are now on the brink of catching us. Rob was out of sorts last night and went down to only his 2nd defeat of the season, while the Finance Director lost on time in a drawn position. Draws from Geoff and Derek were all we had to show for our efforts on the night. Unbeaten we may have been for most of the season but it now looks as though we are paying the price for too many drawn matches. A win against Meir 'C' next week is now a must. If we can manage to do this then Cheddleton 'F' could still catch us, providing that they win their remaining 2 matches, but they couldn't overtake us. Anything less than a win and we've probably thrown it away in the final week after being in the lead for the whole season. You can click here to view the full score card from last night's match.
With the 'A' team needing to win against Kidsgrove on Monday to take the Division 3 title, next week will be the most important week in the season for the club.
