Welcome to the Fenton Chess Club website. We are based at the Longton Snooker & Pool Club, 37 Normacot Road, Longton, ST3 1PL. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children. No Hopers Round Off A 100% Week For Fenton
Fenton 'C' rounded off a great week for Fenton - 3 wins from 3 matches - with a 2.5 - 1.5 win against Meir 'B' in Division 4 last night. Steven Walley, playing on board 4, opened the scoring for Fenton with his 3rd win of the season playing against an opponent who had held Skippy to a draw the previous week. Skippy himself, playing on board 2, took advantage of his opponent's generosity in blundering a Rook away to put us 2 - 0 in front and leaving us needing a draw from one of the remaining matches to give us the win. Unfortunately, the Finance Director on board 1 wasn't up to the task last night, needlessly giving away a Pawn and finally the game. It was then left to Robert West on board 3 to get the draw we needed. With a Knight and 2 Pawns for a Rook he safely steered himself home for the half point to give us a 2.5 - 1.5 win.
