Welcome to the Fenton Chess Club website. We are based at the Longton Snooker & Pool Club, 37 Normacot Road, Longton, ST3 1PL. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children. 'A' Team Draw At Holmes Chapel
Despite being outgraded on every single board - overall by a massive 125 points - the 'A' team held 2nd placed Holmes Chapel Knights to a 2.5 - 2.5 draw in Division 2 last night. Trailing by 2 points, with 2 games still in progress, we won the final 2 games to take a share of the points. We had a golden opportunity to actually win the match but Rob, playing on Board 1 against an opponent graded 41 points higher than him, went into an endgame the exchange and a pawn up and then inexplicably put his Queen en prise and resigned immediately. Excellent wins from Derrick and Derek on Boards 3 and 5, plus a draw for Steve on Board 2, made up the Fenton score. This result lifts Fenton up to halfway in the table.
