The ‘A’ team ran out comfortable 3-1 winners against Cheddleton ‘A’ last night, to move up to second place in Division 1. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing. Gerald lost his first game of the season on board 1 and Alex won on board 2 when his opponent’s phone went off, costing him the game. Neither of the games on boards 3 and 4 looked clear cut and it wasn’t until near the end that Kas finally broke the resistance of a much lower rated opponent on board 4 to put us into a 2-1 lead. Needing only a draw to give us the match, Steve H finally broke through to win on board 3, to give us a win that, quite frankly, looked a little unlikely at one point.
