I am sorry to report that we wil be saying goodbye to Petru Floresc this week. Petru is suffering from ill health and will be returning to his native Romania for treatment and, as things stand at the moment, it is unlikely that he will be reurning to the UK.
I cannot remember exactly when Petru joined the Club. It was when we were based at the Florence Tennis & Bowls Club, so would have been around 2015/2016, and he rapidly established himself as the strongest player at the Club. He has been our mainstay on board 1 ever since and has scored some notable wins against some strong players. He was also a key member of the Cheddleton team in the Four Nations Chess League.
Needless to say, he will be sorely missed and, on behalf of everybody at the Club, we wish him a speedy recovery. He has promised to keep us informed of his progress via WhatsApp.
