The 'A' team kicked off the new league season with a home defeat against Cheddleton 'C' last night. With Ray dropping out of the team late on, we all had to move up a board and Stuart had to step in to play. We got off to a decent enough start though. Petru played as well as he talks for a change and notched up an early win on board 1, followed by Stuart drawing his game on board 4. It was then left to Glyn and me to make a complete mess of the two remaining games. I played like somebody who had only learnt the moves that morning and Glyn carried on the way he finished at last weekend's Bury St Edmunds Congress. The result was a 2.5 - 1.5 loss in a match that we were really expecting to win. You can click here to view the match score card.
The 'A' team don't play again now until the 2nd December, with an away match at Holmes Chapel 'A'.
The 'B' team start their season with an away match at Kidsgrove next Thursday 11th November.
