Last night the A Team visited Holmes Chapel, who fielded an extremely formidable team. I can't improve on the report Steve made on the LMS site:
"A massively outgraded Fenton team, already missing their regular boards 1 and 3, were overwhelmed by a very strong Holmes Chapel last night. With an overall grade difference of 230, and the Holmes Chapel board 5 outgrading the Fenton board 1, it was a very one sided affair. The only bright spot for Fenton was a creditable draw on board 3 for Ray Hyde, despite a 34 point grading difference."
That said, from what I was able to see of the other games, it appeared that on at least 3 other boards the Fenton players were holding reasonably balanced positions. However in the space of about 20 minutes it all went horribly wrong.
