Last night we hosted Leicestershire's Ashby Ivanhoe, Steve Emmerton's "other team", and played a friendly match of 10 boards. Ashby as the visitors had White on the odd-numbered boards.
It may have been a "friendly" but the games were certainly competitive and hard-fought with the match finally ending in a 5-5 draw. Once again, Kas came through for us at the end with a nice win on Board 2 to help us achieve the draw.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and many thanks to the players from Ashby Ivanhoe who made the journey and made it an enjoyable evening. Finally, thanks to Steve, who diplomatically was our non-playing captain for the evening, for organising the match.
