The 'C' team can't buy a win this season. A 4-0 hammering at Crewe 'C' last night leaves them still rooted to the bottom of the Division 4 table. Click here for the match score card.

'B' Team Back To Winning Ways
The 'B' team got back to winning ways last night, following last week's slip up at Newcastle 'C'. A 2.5 - 1.5 win against Meir 'A' puts us joint top of Division 3, along with Crewe 'B'. However, Crewe remain just in front of us by virtue of superior Game points, plus they also have 2 matches in hand of us, as do Newcastle 'C' who are lurking a point behind us. Wins for Max and Grenville, plus the usual predictable draw for me, gave us the points. Click here for the match score card.
'A' Team Win Again
The 'A' team completed the double over Newcastle 'B' last night, replicating their 4-1 win earlier in the season. The win keeps us 2nd in the table, 3 points behind Cheddleton 'B' but with 2 matches in hand. Wins for Petru, Ray and Max, plus draws for myself and Kas, gave us the points. Postponed Fixture
Kidsgrove have requested a postponement of their match against the 'B' team, originally scheduled for Monday 29th January. No new date has been set yet.
'B' Team Held By Crewe
The 'B' team missed the chance to go joint top of Division 3 last night when they were held to a 2-2 draw by a below strength Crewe 'B'. Kasian got us of to a good start with an early win on board 1. Grenville had a great position on board 4 but somehow threw it away and the loss ensued. I was on top in the opening in my game on board 2 but a couple of poor moves gave my opponent the advantage and I was lucky to get away with a draw. Max was a pawn up on board 3 in an endgame but couldn't find a way through and ended up taking the draw. Click here to view the match score card.
Petru At The 4NCL
Petru was playing for Cheddleton at the 4NCL this weekend, losing his game on Saturday and drawing on Sunday.
'B' Team Winning Run Comes To An End
The 'B' team's winning run came to an abrupt halt last night when they were hammered 3.5 - 0.5 by a below strength Newcastle 'C' and, in the process, missed out on going to the top of the table. Petru suffered his first league loss of the season. Grenville had a winning position on board 3 but, with the team already 3-0 down and only a minute or so left on his clock, he agreed a draw. Another Loss For The 'C' Team
The 'C' team can't buy a win at the moment. Another defeat last night, our 4th of the season, this time against Newcastle 'D', means that we are still anchored at the bottom of the Division 4 table with only 2 points to show from our 6 matches. Draws for myself on board 1 and Mike on board 3 were all we could manage in a 3-1 loss. Click here for the match score card
Shropshire Congress
Stuart, Ernie and Derek all played in this weekend's Shropshire Congress. Derek was the most successful of the three, finishing joint 6th in the Minor Section on 3/5. Stuart and Ernie were less successful in the Intermediate Section, scoring 2/5 and 1/5 respectively, with half of Ernie's point coming from a bye in the first round.
Rearranged Match
The 'B' team match against Kidsgrove, postponed earlier this season, has been rearranged for Tuesday 3rd April.
'B' Team Start 2018 With A Win
A 2.5 - 1.5 win at Cheddleton 'E' last night saw the 'B' team move up to joint 2nd in the Division 3 table. This was our 3rd successive win and sees us move to within 2 points of the leaders, Crewe 'B'. However, it has to be said that we were extremely fortunate not to lose as Petru forgot to turn his phone off and it rang shortly after the start of the proceedings. Bill Armstrong, Petru's opponent on board 1, very sportingly declined to claim the game, which he then went on to lose. Chris Brian used up yet another one of his Get Out Of Jail Free Cards with a draw on board 4, in which he was a Knight down in the endgame. An early draw from me on board 2, followed by another draw for Mike on board 3, gave us the points. Click here for the match score card.
