Welcome to the Fenton Chess Club website. We are based at the Longton Snooker & Pool Club, 37 Normacot Road, Longton, ST3 1PL. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 23:00. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children. Fenton Narrowly Fail To Lift Gothard Cup
We narrowly failed to lift the Gothard Cup last night, losing to Cheddleton on board count after a 2.5 - 2.5 draw. There were draws on boards 3, 4 and 5 for Danny, Rob and myself before Ray put us in the lead with a win on board 2. We then only needed a draw on board 1 to lift the trophy, but Glyn mistakenly thought he needed a win and overplayed a totally drawn position and lost the game. A disappointing end as this was our last chance of winning any silverware this season for the first time since 2005/2006. Click here to view the match score card.
