'B' Team Snatch The Division 4 Title
The 'B' team snatched the Division 4 title from under the noses of Crewe Pawns last night. In a nail biting climax to the match the score stood at 1.5 - 1.5 with only Kasian's game on board 1 to finish. With only seconds left on both players clocks, and Kasian a Rook down, his opponent marched his King into the centre of the board and allowed himself to be mated by Pawns and a Queen. The evening started badly for us with Ernie, playing his 30th game of the season, losing fairly early on in the evening on board 3. I had a hard fought draw on board 2 and Robert brought us level with a win on board 4 before Kasian delivered the coup de grace on board 1. Congratulations to Crewe however on a fine first season and being runners-up by a single point. You can click here to view the full match score card.
