'A' Team Slip Up Again

The 'A' team missed the chance to go to the top of Division 3 last night when they were beaten 3 - 1 by Newcastle 'C' - the second time they have beaten us this season. We weren't as strong as we were expecting as Ray had to drop out through illness on the morning of the match. However, it was still a decent team so it was disappointing not to get a point out of the match. Draws for myself and Mike on boards 2 and 3 were all we could manage on the night, with Ernie losing early on and then Rob blundering a piece in a drawn endgame, although this made no difference to the result as we would still have lost the match even if he'd drawn. The only bright spot, if you can call it that, is that Meir were held to a draw by Crewe Bishops so we are still only a point behind but Cheddleton 'F', who are just below us, have 3 matches in hand.
