There were mixed fortunes for the club in our 2 matches at Cheddleton last night. The 'C' team were beaten 3 - 1 in Division 5 by table topping Cheddleton 'K'. It was a particularly disappointing result because Mike threw away a win on board 1 and John missed a mate on board 4. This result effectively ends our title challenge. The 'A' team did rather better in their Division 3 match against Cheddleton 'K'. A 3 - 1 win puts us to within a point of Meir at the top of the table and with a match in hand. Wins for Kasian and the Chief Executive (at last !!) put us 2 - 0 up and Rob sealed the victory with a draw on board 1. He was a piece up at the end but is was going to be very difficult to win. Ernie's win against me in the Club Championship earlier this week had obviously gone to his head and he was unable to produce the same sort of form last night. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children.
