No Joy For Fenton In Newcastle Rapidplay Jamboree

We were distinctly woeful in Friday's Newcastle Rapidplay Jamboree. A late withdrawal by Ray Hyde due to illness meant we had to field a guest player - Karl Lockett of Crewe Chess Club - in the Open Section. Unfortunately he wasn't able to help our cause and we finished joint bottom of 6 teams on 1.5/8 points.

We fared little better in the U130 Section, which we have won twice in the last 3 years. The 'B' team finished joint 6th with 3/8 points. The 'C' team did slightly better, finishing 5th with 3.5/8 points.
