Welcome to the Fenton Chess Club website. We are based at the Longton Snooker & Pool Club, 37 Normacot Road, Longton, ST3 1PL. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children. Honours Even For The 'C' Team
The Fenton No Hopers, aka the 'C' team, drew 2 - 2 with Meir 'C' last night. Our Finance Director played exceptionally well on board 1 for a well earned win. Draws on boards 2 and 3 for Skippy and Robert West earned us a share of the points. Skippy should really have won his game as he went into the endgame a pawn up and with his opponent in his pouch. Unfortunately he allowed his opponent's King into a better position and had to settle for the draw. Inexperience cost Steven Walley dearly on board 4. He came out of the opening in an excellent position but then lost his way and gave away a minor piece. This later became 2 minor pieces and the inevitable loss followed.
