Bully Boys Pile On The Pressure At Top Of Division 3

The Fenton Bully Boys piled the pressure on the chasing pack with a 2.5 - 1.5 win against 2nd placed Cheddleton 'E' last night. This was the 6th successive win for the 'A' team and we have now gone 6 points clear at the top with only 2 matches remaining. Grandmaster draws from Tony and Steve on boards 1 and 3 left the match level early in the evening. Neal then continued his unbeaten season with a win on board 4 to put us 2 - 1 in the lead and needing only a draw from Rob on board 2 to win the match. At this point Rob was the exchange and a pawn up, and a win was highly likely, but he agreed the draw to give us the match - or, as he likes to put it, 'he took one for the team !!' Neal now has an 80% record for the season with 6 wins and 4 draws from 10 matches. Rob has only lost once in 28 matches with 11 wins and 16 draws. Elsewhere at the club, Jason and Joe drew their match in the first of the 4th round Club Championship matches to be played.
