Welcome to the Fenton Chess Club website. We are based at the Longton Snooker & Pool Club, 37 Normacot Road, Longton, ST3 1PL. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children. Great Away Win For The 'A' Team
The 'A' team travelled to Cheddleton 'E' last night and came away with an unexpected victory in Division 3. Despite being outgraded on every single board - and by 54 points overall - we won the match by 2.5 - 1.5. Rob got the ball rolling with an excellent win on Board 1 in a game that I will be publishing on the Members Games page later this weekend. Geoff, playing on Board 3, lost his unbeaten record but Derek, playing on Board 4, came up trumps again to put us 2-1 in the lead with only my game on Board 2 to finish. I was in terrible time trouble, as usual, in a very complicated and double edged endgame. However, I managed to win a Rook for a Knight and with less than 2 minutes remaining on my clock my opponent accepted my offer of a draw, giving us the half point we needed to win match.
