Fenton Into National Final

Fenton made it through to the Final of the National Minor Club Championship this afternoon with a 2-2 draw against Syston. This result puts us top of Group B. This is the first year that we have entered this competition so it's great news for the club that we have done so well.

A fairly quick win for Derrick on Board 1, followed by draws on Boards 3 and 4 by Geoff and Derek gave us the point we needed to go through. I'd like to report that I contributed to the score but, unfortunately, I didn't - that is unless you count 0 as a contribution !!

We don't know the date and venue of the Final yet, or who our opponents will be, although it is likely to be Hackney or Forest Of Dean.
