We were knocked out of the Gothard County Cup last night by Cheddleton, our perennial bogey team. A 2 - 2 draw meant that Cheddleton go through to the Final on board count. It was a closely contested match with only 3 grading points separating the two teams. Early draws for myself and Max on boards 3 and 4 left us needing something out of Glyn's game on board 1. Unfortunately for him (and us !!) it was not to be and we were left 2 - 1 down with only Kasian on board 2 to finish, in a game that now had no relevance to the final result. However, he found an excellent combination to win the game and level the match at 2 - 2. Unfortunately the board count rule meant that we lost the match. Click here to view the match score card.
Welcome to the Fenton Chess Club website. We are based at the Longton Snooker & Pool Club, 37 Normacot Road, Longton, ST3 1PL. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children.
