The 'A' team continued their winning start in Division 2 with their 2nd successive win. A 3 - 2 win at Holmes Chapel Rooks last night puts us 2 points clear at the top of the table, but it's very early days and too soon to be counting our chickens. Petru is in great form, and a 4th win in a row on board 2 put us into an early lead. Unfortunately, Glyn then lost on board 3, making it 1 - 1. Draws for Ray and Max on boards 1 and 5 left the match poised at 2 - 2 but a 3 pawn advantage for me on board 4 was too much for my opponent to cope with, and he resigned when he was going to be unable to prevent me from promoting one of them, giving us both points. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children.
