Welcome to the Fenton Chess Club website. We are based at the Longton Snooker & Pool Club, 37 Normacot Road, Longton, ST3 1PL. We welcome players of all abilities, from beginner to experienced player. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 until 22:30. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate young children. Hang Out The Bunting !!!
After a 6 month wait since the start of the season, the 'C' team finally got their first win last night. A 2.5 - 1.5 win against a strong Cheddleton 'F' team was just reward for their efforts this season. There were wins for Bill Noble on board 1, making his seasonal debut on his visit from the wilds of Northumberland, and Chris Brian on board 4, plus a draw from Ernie on board 3. The score could have been greater as Mike mistakenly resigned his game on board 2 in a drawn position. Click here to view the match score card. A great result but not enough to save us from the Division 4 Wooden Spoon. With only 2 matches left to play we are still 5 points adrift of second from bottom Meir 'B'.
