The 'A' team made a winning start to 2015 against Alsager 'B' last night. A 2.5 - 1.5 win takes us to within a point of Meir 'A' at the top of Division 3. At the same time it put a dent in 3rd placed Alsager's own title ambitions. Rob got us off the mark with a win on board 2, closely followed by a draw from Ray on board 1. Kas had a rare loss on board 4. He was offered a draw by his opponent whilst the exchange down but played on and then left his Queen en prise !! To round off an excellent evening, West Ham, playing in their UKIP colours of purple and yellow, beat Everton in an FA Cup replay that was nearly as exciting as the chess match taking place earlier.
